1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the State News AI website, mobile application or services (the "Platform"), you (the "User", "Reporter" or "Advertiser") agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
State News AI is published by Seagull Venture Private Limited ("we", "us" or "our"). We may modify these Terms from time to time. Where a change is material, we will note it on this page and update the "last updated" date. Continued use of the Platform after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
2. Description of the Service
State News AI is a hyperlocal digital news portal covering Madhya Pradesh. The Platform provides:
- For appointed reporters: mobile-first tools, including voice-to-text, script formatting and image and video upload, to file local news from their district, town or village for editorial review.
- For readers: an interface to read, share and comment on published news.
- For advertisers: advertising inventory displayed alongside published content.
Content is also drawn from official government releases and from authorised syndication partners, and is credited accordingly.
3. Eligibility and Registration
3.1 Eligibility. Users must be at least 18 years of age, have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement, and comply with applicable Indian law.
3.2 Registration. Readers must create an account to post comments. Access to publishing tools is restricted to reporters who have been identity-verified and formally appointed by State News AI.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use.
4. Responsibilities of Reporters
Reporters given access to our publishing tools agree to the following:
4.1 Factual integrity. The core facts, reporting and media in a story must be gathered genuinely by the reporter.
4.2 Permitted use of assistive tools. Language tools are provided to improve clarity, grammar, structure and translation. They are an aid to writing, not a source of facts.
4.3 Prohibited use. You must not use any tool to fabricate facts, invent events, generate quotations, produce synthetic images, audio or video of real persons, or alter the substance of a story.
4.4 Verification before filing. The reporter is responsible for checking the accuracy of a story before submitting it. Submission is not publication: every filing is reviewed and approved by the editorial desk before it goes live.
4.5 Conduct. An identity card issued by State News AI may be used only for newsgathering. Using it for pressure, extortion or personal benefit is serious misconduct. Reporters must not solicit advertising, and must not accept payment, gifts, hospitality or any other consideration in exchange for coverage. Any personal, commercial or political interest in a story must be disclosed to the desk in advance.
4.6 Engagement. Unless a separate written agreement states otherwise, contributors work with State News AI on a voluntary, non-employment basis. Nothing in these Terms creates a contract of employment, partnership or agency.
5. Responsibilities of Readers
Readers commenting on or otherwise interacting with the Platform must not:
- Post false, misleading or defamatory statements
- Post hate speech, discriminatory, obscene or violent material
- Post spam, unauthorised promotional links, or impersonate any person or organisation
- Post material that discloses the identity of a minor or of a survivor of a sexual offence
6. Responsibilities of Advertisers
Advertisers must ensure that their advertisements comply with the guidelines of the Advertising Standards Council of India and with applicable law, and do not promote illegal products, deceptive claims or malicious software. Political advertising will be accepted only with valid pre-certification from the competent Media Certification and Monitoring Committee. Responsibility for claims made in an advertisement rests with the advertiser.
7. Content, Ownership and Licensing
7.1 Reporter content. Reporters retain ownership of their original raw media and grant State News AI a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual licence to host, edit, format, display, distribute and monetise the published work.
7.2 Third-party content. Scraping, copying or plagiarising content from other publications is strictly prohibited. Reporters may upload only media they have personally captured or have clear rights to use.
7.3 Our content. Original content published on the Platform is owned by Seagull Venture Private Limited. It may not be reproduced commercially without written permission. Fair dealing under the Copyright Act, 1957 applies as it does to any published work.
7.4 Moderation and copyright complaints. We may review, moderate or remove any content or comment that violates these Terms, applicable law or our Editorial Policy. Where a rights holder provides valid proof of ownership, infringing material will be removed promptly.
8. Editorial Accountability
State News AI is a publisher, not a passive conduit, in respect of the news it publishes. Editorial responsibility for published content rests with the Editor in Chief. Where an error occurs, it is dealt with under the corrections and takedown provisions of our Editorial Policy, and complaints are handled through the grievance mechanism set out below.
Opinion pieces and columns represent the views of their named authors and not necessarily those of State News AI.
9. Privacy and Data Protection
We collect and process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. We apply reasonable security measures but cannot guarantee absolute security. Where you use sharing features, the data handled by those external platforms is governed by their own policies.
10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
10.1 The Platform is provided on an "as is" basis. While we take reasonable care, we do not warrant that every item of information is complete or free from error at every moment.
10.2 We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from use of the Platform, for the content of third-party advertisements, or for the content of external websites linked from the Platform.
10.3 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable Indian law, including our responsibility as a publisher for the content we publish.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Seagull Venture Private Limited, its management and affiliates against any claim, loss or damage arising from your breach of these Terms, from content you submit, or from your violation of applicable law.
12. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the Platform for any breach of these Terms. Where a reporter is found to have published fabricated material, misused publishing tools to invent facts, or misused an identity card issued by us, publishing rights will be revoked permanently.
13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes arising from use of the Platform are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
Grievance Redressal Policy
State News AI is committed to a transparent and accountable platform for readers, reporters and advertisers. This policy sets out how complaints about content, services or data are handled, in compliance with the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

2. Grievances Covered
Content: factual error, fabricated or manipulated content, hate speech, defamation, copyright infringement, disclosure of a protected identity, or failure to observe our Editorial Policy.
Privacy and data: misuse of personal data, or unauthorised targeting of advertising.
Platform misuse: spam, fake accounts, fraudulent activity in comments, and technical complaints.
3. How to File a Complaint
Complaints may be sent by email to [email protected], by telephone, or in writing to the office address above. A valid complaint should include:
- The complainant's name and contact details
- A clear description of the grievance, with the exact URL of the article or comment
- Supporting documents or proof of ownership, where relevant
- A statement that the complaint is made in good faith
4. Timelines

Where a factual error is confirmed, the correction is normally made within 24 hours, without waiting for the complaint process to conclude.
5. Action on Valid Complaints
Depending on the nature of the violation, we may correct the article and publish a visible correction note, remove unlawful content, remove or moderate a comment, suspend or terminate a reporter or user account, or refer serious matters to the appropriate authority.
An article will be removed only where removal is legally required, where the story is shown to be substantially false, or on the order of a competent authority or court. An article will not be removed merely because its subject finds it inconvenient.
A record of all complaints and the action taken is maintained.
6. Appeal
A complainant who is not satisfied with the decision may appeal to the self-regulatory body of which the publisher is a member, or to the Grievance Appellate Committee constituted by the Government under the Information Technology Rules, 2021.
